The Ormsby Zone is located southwest of the Nicholas Lake Zone and is close to the Bruce Zone and the historic Discovery Mine. The Ormsby Zone was first discovered in 1944 and acquired by Ormsby Mines. In the 1950’s the property was acquired by Discovery Mines Ltd. which conducted exploration work. Discovery Mines Ltd. operated the nearby Discovery Mine producing over 1 million ounces of Gold. The property consists of 14 mineral leases covering an area of 6,333 hectares.
Development on the property consists of 140,000 metres of surface and underground diamond drilling and 959 metres of underground decline. Approximately 6,800 tonnes of gold mineralization from two sub-drifts within the deposit are stockpiled on surface.
The Nicholas Lake property was first staked in 1941 by Cominco Ltd. Trenching exposed gold-bearing quartz veins hosted by a small granodiorite intrusion. In 1994, 820 m of underground decline development was driven into the Nicholas deposit. Diamond drill holes into the deposit total 26,000 metres.
